Michael J. O'Brien is a 1973 graduate
of Warren John F. Kennedy Catholic High School and a 1978
graduate of Youngstown State University, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice.
Mayor O'Brien is a former employee of
the Warren Police Department -- served as
a Corrections Officer for three years. He is also a former
employee of the Trumbull County Family Court, where he
served as a Juvenile Probation Officer for twelve years.
Mr. O'Brien
served twelve years as a Warren City Councilman, and
served eleven years as a Trumbull County Commissioner. Mayor
O'Brien is currently serving his second term as the Mayor of
Warren.
Michael is a graduate of
Leadership Mahoning Valley and serves on the Board of the
Warren Redevelopment and Planning Commission, and the
Mahoning Valley Economic Development Corporation, and in
2006, served as Chairman of the Eastgate Regional
Council of Governments. He also serves upon dozens of
Community Boards and Committees.
In 2006, the Youngstown-Warren
Regional Chamber named Michael "Business Advocate of the
Year". In 2000, the National Association of Social
Workers named Michael "Public Official of the Year". The
Warren Area Jaycees also named him "Man of the Year".
Mr. O'Brien is a lifelong resident of
Warren, with three children. Michael is in his fourth year
at Ohio State University; Kristen is a freshman at Kent
State University; and Dominic is six years old.
Michael is member of St. Joseph's
Catholic Church in Warren.
