OPERATIONS DIVISION

 

The Operations Department is responsible for the care and maintenance of over 300 miles of roads, 21 Parks and 150 vehicles. The Operations Department patches roads in the summer and plows the snow off of the roads in the winter.

BUILDING MAINTENANCE DIVISION

 

The Building and Maintenance Division is responsible for the care and maintenance of 55 buildings throughout the city. The work we do includes the following:

 

Carpentry Work

• All drywall work

• Stud wall

• Painting

• Finish trim

• Build workstations

• Build picnic tables

• Build map boards and pictures frames

• Board up drug houses

• Repair park benches

• Repair desks

• Repair overhead, office and building doors

• Repair and replace roofs

• Repair and replace gutters, fascia, and soffits

Electrical Work

• Install new electrical lines

• Run computer cables

• Install new switches and outlets

• Troubleshoot electrical problems

• Maintain and repair downtown electrical panels, Courthouse Square lights and downtown lights

• Installation and removal of Christmas lights throughout the downtown area

• Repair and replace interior and exterior lights

• Reset timers

• Replace scoreboard lights

• Repair scoreboards

• Repair motors on boilers

Plumbing Work

• Repair leaks

• Repair and replace faucets and showers

• Run new water lines

• Repair drinking fountains

• Repair and replace toilets and urinals

• Work on plugged drains

• Repair and replace hot water tanks

• Maintain and repair fountain at Courthouse Square

Heating and Air Conditioning

• Install new furnaces

• Repair furnaces and boilers

• Routine maintenance on all furnaces and boilers

• Routine maintenance on all air conditioning units

• Install air conditioning units in buildings

Miscellaneous

• Repair stoves, refrigerators, washers, dryers and microwaves

• Hang curtains and drapes

• Reset mailboxes damaged by snowplows

• Install, remove and repair fences

• Install and repair carpeting

• Install ceramic tile, linoleum and vinyl flooring

• Repair or replace windows

• Repair and replace door locks

• Maintain playground equipment, tennis, and basketball courts

PARKS DIVISION

 

The Operations Department maintains 21 parks throughout the City of Warren. The responsibilities include:

• Mowing 300 acres of grass

• Preparing 22 ball diamonds - drag, rake and line

• Mowing 36 islands

• Repair picnic tables

• Stump removal and trim trees

The Operations Department will also rents the Enclosed Shelter House at Packard Park,  the Log Cabin located on Mahoning Ave. and the pavilions at both Perkins and Packard Park.

 

Rental Fees:

Enclosed Shelter House    Monday - Friday        $210.00 *includes $50.00

VEHICLE MAINTENANCE DIVISION

 

The Operations Department maintains over 150 city vehicles. The duties include:

• Keep records of maintenance on all vehicles

• Follow a preventative maintenance schedule

• Emergency road calls

• Service vehicles from Health, Engineering and City Hall

• Assist Building Maintenance crew for fence and gate repairs

• Assist Street Division for removal of signposts

• Fabricate truck beds
