The mission of the Criminal Investigations Division is to thoroughly investigate major, felony related crimes within the community. Examples of criminal investigations include, but are not limited to: Homicides, Felonious Assaults, Robberies, Burglaries, and Sex Offenses. The Criminal Investigations Division implements the application of solvability factors to review and assign cases for further investigation. Investigative expertise, professional case management, participation with various task forces, as well as the assistance of State and Federal agencies, will maximize the successful prosecution of criminals. The Criminal Investigations Division also continues to develop our case management capability, the results of which appear in the department’s annual report.

Our goal is to take a leadership position in the prevention, investigation, and prosecution of criminal activity, enhancing public safety and improving the quality of life in the City of Warren. Community collaboration and communication will afford enhanced opportunities to meet this goal.

A 2016 Federal Grant permitted this division an upgrade to the audio/visual equipment in 2017 utilized during interview sessions. An additional 2017 Local Government Safety Grant, secured in collaboration with the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office, administers funding for installation of video cameras in the downtown area.

Goals and objectives for this division include an emphasis on crime reduction, information sharing, and community partnerships, focusing on problem-solving within our City. We can best serve our community through collaborative efforts and resources, therefore allowing our investigators to serve with the utmost professionalism, integrity, dedication, and commitment.
