Mayor Franklin was all smiles as he met with the third grade class at Jefferson PK-8 school to discuss government and his role as Mayor. After his speech was a fun question and answer period with the kids.

Warren Trumbull County Public Library will present "Henry's Freedom Box" featuring Rory Rennick, the Magistic, at 2pm on Saturday, February 11th.  The true-life story of Henry "Box" Brown, the man who mailed himself out of slavery, presented through dramatic storytelling, original music, and amazing magic.  This will be a free event for children in grades kindergarten to sixth.  

 

The City of Warren will be presenting Black History programs on February 20th and February 21st at 6pm at the Warren Heritage Center, 303 Mahoning Ct NW.

 

The Ohio Peace Council will present a focus on the African-American scholar and activist, W.E.B Du Bois, on the 155th anniversary of his birth.  "Du Bois on Peace" will be presented at 6pm on February 23rd at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave.

 

The Raymond John Wean Foundation will present a Race Equity and Inclusion workshop, a two-day virtual workshop designed to develop the capacity of participants to better understand racism in its institutional and structural forms.  Participants move away from a focus on personal bigotry and bias, to understand a historical, cultural, and structural analysis of racism.  Workshops are February 22nd and 23rd.  Contact the foundation at 330-394-5600 for more information.

 

The Trumbull County Historical Society is marking Black History Month highlighting the stories and legacies of black residents of Trumbull County.  The first black Baptist church in Trumbull was founded in 1916 and dubbed the Second Baptist Church.  To learn more about the history of the Second Baptist Church visit www.secondbaptistwarren.com/about.

The Warren Farmer's Market will be open on Tuesday, June 7th 2022 from 3 pm to 6 pm and will continue each Tuesday until October 4th 2022, with the exception of July 5th. It will be at Perkins Park above the Warren Community Amphitheatre.

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about the inclusion of people with developmental disabilities in all areas of community life, as well as awareness to the barriers that people with disabilities still sometimes face in connecting to the communities in which they live.

Please join Mayor Franklin and the Trumbull County Board of Developmental Disabilities as we work to spread the message of inclusion, acceptance and respect for people of all abilities during the month of March and beyond.
